Clifford, Tyler Receive NEAC Softball Weekly Awards

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Alexandra Clifford and Whitney Tyler as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in softball for the week ending March 24.

Alexandra Clifford (Clifton Park, N.Y.) from Cazenovia College has been honored as the NEAC Softball Player of the Week with a .750 batting average and a 1.250 slugging percentage in a doubleheader sweep at Rosemont. The Wildcats’ sophomore infielder went 6-for-8 with a double, a home run and a walk. Clifford also had one stolen base, five runs scored and six RBIs to finish the twin bill with a .778 on-base percentage.

Whitney Tyler (Meshoppen, Pa.) from Keuka College has been recognized as the NEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after firing a complete game shutout at St. John Fisher on March 21. The 7-2 win marked the Wolves’ first victory over St. John Fisher since the 2009 season with Tyler surrendering just two unearned runs and six hits. The Wolves’ sophomore pitcher struck out eight and walked two to earn the win.
