Mathias & Dhondt Named Men's Lacrosse NEAC Players of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – Edward Mathias and Michael Dhondt, both of Hilbert College, swept this week’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men’s lacrosse Player of the Week awards.

Edward Mathias (Buffalo, NY) is named the Offensive Player of the Week after leading Hilbert to a 15-7 victory this past Saturday over Muskingum.

The senior attacker started out his senior campaign with an eight-point effort in the Hawks season opening road win at Muskingum. He netted two goals on four shots while dishing out six assists. He also chipped in with four ground balls and a caused turnover as well.

He moved into second place on the program’s all-time goal scoring list. His 108 goals all time places him 13 behind the No. 1 leader.

Michael Dhondt (Canandaigua, NY) collects the first Defensive Player of the Week award for the NEAC.

The sophomore goalkeeper came up with some huge saves in key moments in his Hilbert debut. He helped lead the Hawks to a season-opening 15-7 road victory at Muskingum.

Dhondt earned the victory after finishing the day with 12 saves, good for .632 save percentage.
