LATHAM, N.Y. – Morrisville State’s Megyan Merrill and Penn State Berks’ Julia Rathsam have been named North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women’s volleyball Players of the Week.  

Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) led Morrisville in a 2-0 sweep of NEAC opponents on Saturday, as the Mustangs remained undefeated in conference play with 3-0 wins over Penn State Harrisburg and Penn State Abington. The senior began the week with a 28-kill outing in a 3-1 loss to Oneonta, hitting .362 from the floor while contributing two assists and 13 digs to the Mustang efforts. She followed with 13 kills while hitting .379 against Harrisburg where she averaged 4.33 kills per set. In that same contest, Merrill added four digs and an assisted block to her totals. Merrill wrapped up the week's action with 20 throwdowns against Penn State Abington, averaging 6.67 per set while hitting a week's best .613 from the floor, and averaging 7.3 points per set for the Mustangs. On the week the senior collected 61 total kills across three matches, averaged 6.10 per set while hitting .432 and collecting 24 digs. She also averaged 6.3 points per set.

Julia Rathsam (Elizabethtown, Pa.) helped the Nittany Lions go 3-0 last week. The freshman setter racked up 51 digs and had one solo block. Rathsam recorded 23 digs in a 3-1 win over Albright. Rathsam then recorded 14 digs against both SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly in a pair of 3-0 wins. Rathsam handed out 43 assists against Albright, 31 against SUNY Cobleskill, and 27 versus SUNY Poly. For the week, Rathsam averaged 5.10 digs, 10.1 assists per set and tallied nine service aces.  


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has 12 NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Cazenovia College, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Morrisville State, Penn College, Penn State Abington, Penn State Berks, Penn State Harrisburg, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly, and Wells College.
